Trip to Kentucky

I just got back last night from a 4-day trip to Louisville, KY. It was so much fun. I was presenting some research I did with a professor (the same research I got the ORCA for) at a research conference in Louisville. I also competed in a lesson teaching competition for BYU at the same conference. I didn't win the competition, but Louisville was great, and the whole trip was a much needed break.

I ate wonderfully well (everything from Thai to Outback to Ma & Pa's diners, etc), learned a lot at the conference, got really sick of planes and layovers, read The Giver, and took some fun pictures.

We went to the Louisville Slugger Museum/Factory while we were there. They have some pretty impressive machinery (including a machine that makes all the MLB players bats...they have separate programs written for each player...this machine can make a bat in 16 seconds and makes them exactly the same - apparently if there is a difference in any of the bats it makes for the player it will be less than the thickness of two sheets of paper)

One really blinged out limo...
They have statues of the mayor of Louisville all over the city doing different things (sitting, standing, waving to people across the street, etc)
See above
The buses (yes that is a bus) are made to look like street cars
4th street live is at the heart of downtown Louisville. Our hotel was about 2 blocks from here so we came down often. They have live bands, tons of restaurants, comedians, homeless people, etc. all on this street.
