BYU

I just wanted to address one of the interesting situations I find here at BYU. Why do we have BYU anyway - well obviously there are many reasons, but I think one of the biggest is that the church wants there to be a place that the youth of the church can meet each other, court, and marry. Well here's the problem I see, it is so flipping hard to meet new people at BYU. Sure, every semester you meet all the people in your ward, and then there's the occasional person who has the locker next to you in the RB but, other than that - it seems to me that it is really hard to just meet new people. You meet and get to know the people you work with, you get to know your ward, and the people in your major begin to look familiar to you - but what about the 1000's of others on campus? I know there are things like dances, stake activities, etc. But, what really happens at these events? You go and then you hang out with your friends / ward. It almost defeats the purpose - now I'm not blaming this on anyone - I just wish there was another way to meet some new people. And maybe the bulk of the problem lies with me but, maybe it lies in the system . . .
